"When all is said, and truly said, concerning the divisions of Christianity, there remains, by the Grace of God, an enormous common ground."  -C.S. Lewis

In roughly A.D. 30, on a mountaintop in Galilee, the Gospels report that Jesus fed 5000 people with limited supplies and limitless faith.  On September 27, 2009, on a soggy riverbank along a flooded river in Rome, Jesus took over Ridgeferry Park and fed 5000 more!  The simplest, earliest expression of the Gospel, the "Good News", is "Jesus Lives".  And for more than 5000 citizens of the Northwest Georgia community, "Jesus Lives" isn't just a song they've heard in church, or a billboard they saw near the overpass they were sleeping under, or a worn-out bumper sticker they've stared at while stuck in traffic.  "Jesus Lives" is the real-life, flesh and blood experience they had in a real place, in a real time, not way back in the Bible days when people talked funny, but right in the middle of their community, the middle of their families, the middle of their lives.

On Sunday, through the giving of food, the painting of faces, the blowing of bubbles, the parking of vehicles, the rolling of pies, the playing of music, the taking of Communion, the tossing of water ballons, the collecting of trash, and the carrying of groceries, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.  This is the promise of the Scriptures, the hope of the Kingdom, and the calling of the faithful.  Thank you
for keeping that promise, fulfilling that hope, and answering that call through your support of Jesus in the Park.
